About Hide Screen
Hide Screen (hide-screen.com) is an independent, free project with two tools: Blur Screen, a Chrome/Edge browser extension, and Block Screen, an in-page tool built directly into this site. Both exist to let people quickly cover part of their screen — for screen shares and classroom demos — without any account, sign-up, or subscription.
Information we don't collect
There is no account system, no sign-up form, and no server-side database anywhere in this project — this website has no backend at all. Concretely:
- Block Screen (the tool on this page) keeps your chosen color, opacity, and size only in your browser's memory for that visit. Nothing is saved after you close the tab, and nothing is ever sent anywhere.
- Blur Screen (the browser extension) stores its state — position, size, blur amount, and on/off status — locally on your device using the browser's built-in
chrome.storage.localAPI. That's what lets the same blur patch follow you from tab to tab. This data never leaves your device; there is no server for it to be sent to.
Website analytics
This site uses Vercel Web Analytics, a privacy-focused analytics service. It does not use cookies and does not collect any personally identifiable information — it only reports aggregated, anonymous page-view counts to help us understand which pages are visited.
Advertising (Google AdSense)
This site displays ads served by Google AdSense. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies (including the DoubleClick cookie) to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to visitors based on their visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info/choices.
Cookies
Aside from the advertising cookies described above, this site does not itself set cookies. Your browser's own controls — blocking third-party cookies, an ad blocker, or similar privacy settings — work as they normally would here.
Children's privacy
Hide Screen is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated occasionally as the site changes. The date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
